It is no secret that matte lipstick is in for fall. We are seeing lots of different companies releasing their versions of matte lipsticks for the fall collections. Namely Maybelline, Wet N Wild, and L'oreal. Clinique also jumped on this matte lipstick trend for the fall season and man did they do an amazing job at it. I can't get enough of them. There are 8 shades all together. From left to right in the picture about you have Matte Plum, Matte Suede, Matte Beauty, Matte Mandarin, Matte Peony, Matte Petal, Matte Crimson, and Matte Magenta.
As I was saying I absolutely love them! I bought 3 of the shades so far but I know for sure that I will be acquiring more within the next couple weeks. They are pretty comfortable to wear despite their matte finish. I have always loved a matte lipstick but in the past I found that a lot of them are very drying. These however, don't leave my lips dehydrated. I think the best part about them besides comfortability is that they also have a very long wear time. Besides a touch up after lunch I can wear these all day without them fading or wearing off. Another amazing bonus of using Clinique products is that they are fragrance free, allergy tested, and cruelty free so they are a great option for anyone with sensitivities to beauty products or fragrance.
The first shade I purchased is Matte Peony which a coral pink shade. Though I don't see myself wearing this much in fall I def will be wearing it a lot in spring.
I also purchased a shade called Matte Crimson which is a rich red shade that I am in love with! I have worn it a lot in the past couple weeks and it is one of the best reds in my collection.
Lastly this shade is called Matte Magenta which is a nice bright pink. Another lovely spring and summer shade.
All three are absolutely wonderful and beautiful. I have had the chance to play with all the shades and I guarantee all the shades are as awesome as these 3.
As with any other matte lip product you want to make sure that you nourish your lips. I always start with a lip exfoliator to help get rid of dead skin on the lips and make your pout nice and smooth. My favorite is the E.l.f Studio Lip Exfoliator which I did a review of here. I then follow it up with a lip balm to keep my lips conditioned.
Overall I am a huge fan of these. They have a lovely matte finish while feeling comfortable. I love that they last all day long. The colors apply opaque without a bunch of coats and apply even. They are $16 a piece which I think is a reasonable price especially when you consider that you really only need one coat on the lips for a nice even finish. Go to your local Clinique counter and check them out for yourself. Clinique consultants are trained to help you pick your perfect shade. Trust me you won't regret it!
