Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream Review!

*Attention: Sorry ladies that I have been away so long. I am currently taking some career turns in my life and it has left me with little free time. I am going to do better I promise you. To those of you that have waited so patiently thank you thank you. I finally got my makeup business up and going. If you are interested in checking out my work and on with the review

First of all I will say that the more BB creams that I buy the more I wonder why I am buying them. I have had a poor streak with luck when it comes to these. However, I could not resist the packaging of the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream. I have had great luck with Olay's body care products and see as how my face gets super dry in the winter, I figured I would give it a shot. I hoped that even if it didn't provide any coverage that maybe it would at least be a good facial moisturizer.

The packaging like most other BB Creams claims that it is a "skin perfecting tinted moisturizer with sunscreen". Fair enough, I like that. It also says " 24-Hour hydration and a splash of sheer color for a flawlessly radiant look. Say bye bye to blotches and imperfections and hello to instant skin-perfecting coverage". It claims to refresh, brighten, even skin tone, hydrate, smooth, and protects. All great promises but let's see what it really does.

I will say that this surprised me. I purchased the Fair to Light shade (there is one other shade with is Light to Medium) and when I first put it on the back of my hand I thought it would be way to light. I applied it with my hands to my entire face and it is actually quite nice. It has the moisturizing quality that is for sure. What I liked is that it blended into my skin without making it feel oily or greasy like some other BB creams do. I felt like my face just soaked it right up.

What you may not like however, is the smell. I enjoy it but I know not all of you ladies are keen on scented facial products. It has a sort of spring floral smell but in a good way I thought. It just smells fresh to me.

As far as the coverage goes it does come off like the package says which is a "sheer wash of color". I did notice that it perfected my redness some and did noticeably even out my skin tone. I still topped it with a tinted setting powder but I always do that even with matte foundations.

I like that I wore this all day long and it didn't make my face feel greasy or look caked. It didn't cake up in my fine lines or around my nose which was also nice. Overall I think this is a great winter product. It may replace my usually primer/sunscreen step at least. I paid $10.99 with a coupon for this at Riteaid but it normally retails for $12.99- $14.99. I have also seen it at Walgreens and CVS.

As always thank you for reading lovelies.

  1. What type of skin fo you have that it was a good coverage? Would you recommend this for someone with bumps or random pimples?

  2. It wasn't a great coverage. More of a tinted moisturizer. I have pretty clear skin so this worked well for me but if you struggle with breakouts I would say bb creams in general aren't for you. If you have a few pimples from time to time I would say this is fine. I would just cover the blemishes with some concealer after you apply this.
