LA Colors Jumbo Eye Pencil Review and NYX Milk Dupe!!!

Okay so for my friends who read my blog and think that I already have quite the makeup collection well....it's about to get worse haha. When I find something I like...really like...I tend to buy every color! If it's a lipstick than I need all the colors of that kind of lipstick or if it's an eyeliner than I need every color of that eyeliner. You get the point. Well if you watch youtube videos about makeup or watch makeup tutorials or read other beauty blogs than you have probably at one point heard mention of the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk. What this is is a matte white eyeshadow stick which is used as an eyeshadow base. Because it is such an opaque matte white it works really well for making your eyeshadow stand out. It makes all your colors much more vibrant. Well I frickin love that thing. I have gone through almost 3 of them so when my friend told me that their was a MUCH cheaper dupe for it I almost did a happy dance. So in typical Staci fashion I rushed right down to my local Kinney Drugs (which is where you can find all 24 of these suckers) and got me one! You can also find a few shades at Family Dollar and can purchase them online at cherryculture.com. To sum it up simply OMG!!! They are called the LA Colors Jumbo Eye Pencils and they are only.....drum roll please.... $1.50 a piece. The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are $4.50 a piece which really isn't that bad but it starts to add up. After trying the one LA JEP(for abbreviation) I bought for about a week I was sold and bought all the other shades they had in stock. I am missing 2 of the shades but I will get them in due time. Let's take a look..... *P.S- All of the matte shades will be underlined though you can kind of pick them out from the swatches.
So above are all the shades that I own...I know it's a bit much

The shades above from left to right are: Sunglasses, Sweet Wishes, and Salt Water

The shades above from left to right are: Summer Love, Beach Resort, Summer Time, Limeade, and Spring

The shades above from left to right are: Vacation, Tropical Bliss, Bikini Time, Cherry Blossom, and Pretty in Pink

The shades above from left to right are: Relaxation, Sand Castles, Desert Sun and Popsicle

The last three shades from left to right are: Waves, Iridescent Light, and Sea Shells.

So the shade that I was talking about being a dupe for the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk is the last shade on the right. As you can see from the swatch below it is almost identical. Can you tell which is which? The bottom one is LA JEP :). Like I said they are almost virtually identical. Even in consistency and longevity.
Summary
PROS: They are no slip, pigmented, greatly priced, almost no creasing (they do crease a bit with out the use of primer but with primer I saw almost no creasing), and they are very smooth and creamy.

CON: There is one con. The smell! I don't know if it's just me but these smell really strange. Like a mixture of plastic and roses. Anyway, the quality and price are enough for me to over look this part but I thought I would throw it out there.

I hope this was helpful if anyone was looking for great affordable eye bases or just wanted to add a fun way to spice up there day to day makeup routine. Thanks for reading :)

    1. Hey girl sorry it took me a minute to get back to you. These pencils you have to sharpen. If you do not have a dual sided pencil sharpener you can find them at Sallys or at the drugstore but the drugstore ones are usually more expensive! I would love to hear what you think of it after you use it! Thanks for reading :)

    1. You are supposed to be able to use a pencil sharpener. They are like NYX Jumbo Pencils in that way. They sell the sharpener on the display. It isn't the softest plastic ever though so it takes a bit of effort. I really wish they would have made these a twist up type of pencil.

  5. I love this but I too am having trouble figuring out if I can sharpen it. I will go buy a sharpener later. This really covers up the dark brown bumpy skin around my lids, even concealer wouldn't hide this lol

    1. You can sharpen it with a jumbo pencil sharpener. They actually have one on most of the LA Color displays. They are a bit tougher to sharpen but it does work. I wish they could have packaged these a bit better.

  6. If you twist the bottom color indicator hard enough it will come off revealing more product to be sharpened and the cap will easily slide back on and stay, also when both sides are used up place it into a small glass makeup container and microwave it for a few seconds to remove all product from the plastic tube for use with a stiff brush... Hope that helps someone!!!
